At the FICCI Annual Capital Markets Conference 2025, SEBI WTM Ananth Narayan G highlighted that inflows into Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) in FY25 are on par with mutual fund inflows.
AIF net commitments rose sharply from ₹2.20 lakh crore to ₹13.50 lakh crore, while actual investments increased from ₹1.30 lakh crore to ₹5.40 lakh crore. The sector now has over 70,000 unique investors.
He praised Category I and II AIFs, which account for 75% of commitments, as key drivers of private capital. Narayan also emphasized the growing accredited investor regime, noting its paperless and simplified process, and urged wider participation with feedback for further improvement.
